Minister David Tawei Lee First Rank Order of Brilliant Star

David Tawei Lee, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented the First Rank Order of Brilliant Star to Reinaldo Pared Pérez, President of the Senate of República Dominicana on June 12 in appreciation for his long-term contribution and support to the relationship between Taiwan and República Dominicana.

Minister Lee pointed out that Mr. Pared is a law expert and has a long political experience. Mr. Pared has long been the general secretary of Dominican Liberation Party, member of the Senate and the House, and elected three times as the President of the Senate. During his public service, he initiated a number of important judicial and social welfare legislations which strengthened the foundation of political, economic, and social development of the country.

Mr. Pared visited Taiwan June 11 through 16 at the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to update his understanding of the country's political, economic, and cultural developments. During his visit, he met with President Tsai Ing-wen; Su Chia-chyuan, President of the Legislative Yuan and other government officials. He also visited cultural and economic establishments including the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, and Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area.

 

The Senate of República Dominicana has been supporting Taiwan's participation in important events and organizations including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), World Health Assembly (WHA), and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) -- fully demonstrating its friendliness to Taiwan.
