President Tsai Ing-wen said Jan. 3 that the government will continue working with organizations like Junior Chamber International Taiwan as part of efforts to promote public-private sector partnerships amid global challenges.
The country’s success in combating coronavirus can be attributed to organizations like JCIT, Tsai said. Its strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols while staging activities, as well as assisting in the establishment of community disease prevention networks, play a key role in strengthening Taiwan’s response to the pandemic, she added.

According to Tsai, the chamber’s support for government policies aimed at mitigating the impact of coronavirus on the economy is paying dividends for the people. A high-profile success is Triple Stimulus Vouchers, she said, citing record year-on-year monthly sales from July to November 2020 for the catering and retail industries.
Another example, Tsai added, is nine consecutive months of growth in export orders as confirmed in statistics released last November by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
An increase in orders seen by the electronics, mechanical and metal industries demonstrate Made in Taiwan brands are receiving more international recognition, Tsai said, adding that the government is committed to furthering leveraging the advantages of these sectors in raising Taiwan’s profile on the global stage.
Launched in July 2020, TSVs can be spent on a variety of goods and services. They are one of many government initiatives aimed at stimulating domestic economic activity amid coronavirus first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019.
Taipei-based JCIT is a member of the JCI network. The latter, which is a U.S.-headquartered nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, seeks to provide development opportunities empowering young people to create positive change.
