MOFA with Mustard Seed Mission provides fishing boats assist Palu City
The Department of NGO International Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mustard Seed Mission recently donated fishing boats to victims.
The homes of people in Central Sulawesi of Indonesia were devastated by earthquakes and a tsunami in 2018. The Department of NGO International Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mustard Seed Mission recently donated fishing boats to victims in remote areas to help them rebuild their homes.
The Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Surabaya indicated on 26th the Mustard Seed Mission, Department of NGO International Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and NGO Pesat in Indonesia collaborated in visiting victims in remote areas on the 25th and held the sailing ceremony of 30 fishing boats.
Benson D. S. Lin, director-general of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Surabaya, and Officer Zulki Fli of Palu City attended the sailing ceremony. Benson D. S. Lin indicated that charity groups from Taiwan participated in the disaster relief actions right after the occurrence of disaster, and Taiwanese Government and people also made donations. The donation of fishing boats shows that Taiwanese Government and people continue to care about the disaster area and wish to help victims rebuild.
The Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Surabaya also stated that 30 fishing boats sailed out in the sailing ceremony and conducted a fishing competition. The atmosphere was lively. There were also performances, color-painting “Love from Taiwan” on fishing boats, and exhibition of fish products processing.
Palu City of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia was devastated by earthquakes and tsunami in September 2018. Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Surabaya stated that R.O.C Government donated US$500,000 (about NT$15 million) after the disaster as well as disaster relief materials. Civil sectors in Taiwan and Taiwanese companies in Indonesia also donated US$2.36 million for rebuilding.
