In view of the global challenges from climate change, economic inequality, and trade conflicts across the globe, the United Nations (UN) announced the “Sustainable Development Goals,” (SDGs) in 2015 to help improve human life through 17 goals and actions. To enforce the SDGs, Taiwan Soka Association (TSA) held the “Seeds of Hope and Action” exhibition in April and May across Taiwan and offshore islands, including Penghu and Kinmen, to raise public awareness.
Besides introducing the SDGs promoted by the UN, the organizer also introduced the “Seeds of Hope and Action” co-organized by the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) and Earth Charter International (ECI) to attract the support of more people in caring about the future of human beings.
The exhibition was planned in four sections: “entrance”, “theme”, “interaction”, and “achievement” sections. The origins, concepts, and meanings of SDGs were introduced at the “entrance” section. The stories of eight SDGs activists were presented at the “theme” section to urge people to start taking actions to change the environment. Educating activities were planned at the “interaction” section to show visitors how to practice SDGs in the daily life. The achievements in practicing SDGs by undergraduate and postgraduate students of TSA are presented at the “achievement” section.
