The World Scout Moot flag was handed over to Taiwan.

The 16th World Scout Moot took place in Portugal from July 25 to August 3. The event brought together over 7,000 scouts from 117 countries. In a demonstration of Taiwan’s enthusiasm for international scouting, the General Association of the Scouts of China (Taiwan) sent a delegation of 140 people to the gathering.

On August 1, TGASC held a Taiwan Day activity at the Moot. Through cultural exhibits, interactions, and exchanges, Taiwan’s delegation presented their arrangements to host the 2029 Moot. Taiwan’s Representative in Portugal Grace Yakuang Chang visited the campsite to take part in the event. She commended the Taiwanese delegation for their efforts and expressed her appreciation to Wang Hsiao-hong, who led the group.

World Scout Committee Chair Daniël Corsen, Committee Member Mohammad Omar, and Secretary General David Berg also came to offer their support. They praised Taiwan’s promotion of international scouting and said they were looking forward to taking part in the Asia-Pacific Scout Conference in Kaohsiung in October. Main Camp Chief Ivo Faria and Moot Director Inês Graça also shared their experiences and offered Taiwan valuable advice on preparations to host the assembly.

TGASC-Taiwan Chairman Allen Kuolun Kao said the Taiwan Day was more than a cultural event, it was an invitation to the World Scout Moot to join young people around the world in Taiwan in 2029.

Taiwan was awarded the right to hold the 2029 Moot last year. TGASC-Taiwan Secretary General Yang Yung-chin established an observation team to learn how Portugal organized the gathering. At the closing ceremony on August 3, the world scouting flag was handed over to two representatives from Taiwan, signifying the formal transfer of hosting responsibility. The moment demonstrated Taiwan’s commitment to the global scout movement.
