On July 18, Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi met with the Executive Yuan’s Youth Advisory Group. The fifth iteration of the group held a discussion with the deputy minister. The two sides exchanged views on issues such as a platform to connect the overseas Taiwanese community, mechanisms to sponsor youth international exchanges, an online system to process conditional passport renewals, consular document authentication, and strategies for international reporting on Taiwan.
Noting that the Youth Advisory Group was made up of outstanding young people from various backgrounds, Chen said the next generation was not just injecting new impetus into Taiwan’s international engagement, it was also creating new possibilities for Taiwan’s diplomatic efforts. Chen said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its foreign missions would strengthen interactions with young overseas Taiwanese. To deepen exchanges, Chen said MOFA could invite youth advisors to relevant activities, such as receptions and banquets for NGOs. He added that this would help young people better understand the government’s efforts.
