Terra Renaissance Taiwan successfully organized a summer camp and leadership training program in Cambodia on landmine clearance, human rights, and community empowerment.

During four days of pretraining, eight young people from various regions of Taiwan took a deep dive into Cambodian history, politics, culture, and social challenges. They then traveled to Terra Renaissance’s service center in Battambang, Cambodia, to visit local communities that had been through landmine clearance. Led by farming experts, they also conversed with sellers and producers of bamboo rice, banana chips, and rice paper.

Through the program, the young people conducted an in-depth survey of the human rights and environmental situation. Based on local needs, they designed practical social enterprise solutions. The group demonstrated that Taiwanese youths are globally aware and willing to take action on humanitarian and sustainability issues. The camp gave the young participants the opportunity to better understand social responsibility and contribute their energies to society in active and creative ways.
