On April 1, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, former speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, led a delegation of drone industry representatives from the Czech Republic on a visit to the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center (Space Chiayi) in Taiwan. She was accompanied by Chiang Zhen-wei, CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Drone Diplomacy Task Force. The group made the trip to learn more about Taiwan’s unmanned vehicle applications and industry development.

The delegation included representatives from a German consultancy firm and manufacturers in the fields of sensor payloads, self-flying, formation flying, unmanned aerial systems, and 3D modeling, as well as a major Czech aerospace company. The focus of the visit was to assess the drone industry capacity of the two countries and explore possible ways to cooperate.

Chiayi Country is building a drone industry cluster with central government support based around Space Chiayi. The center’s first and second buildings are being remodeled to accommodate a national level drone research and testing ecosystem.

Also in Chiayi, the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology is guiding the development of the Minxiong Aerospace and UAV Industrial Park. The facility will enhance manufacturing capacity and ultimately create a complete industrial supply chain by integrating R&D, testing, and mass production.

Since its launch in 2022, Space Chiayi has brought together over 50 industry and research organizations from Taiwan and overseas. The center has received delegations from 35 countries, positioning it as a key international portal for Taiwan’s drone sector.
