Chiang Zhen-wei, CEO of the Drone Diplomacy Task Force at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and Markéta Pekarová Adamová, former Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, have continued to promote international cooperation on drones. From August 3 to 7, the task force and the Czech Farpoint Academy held a workshop on experimental battlefield systems in the context of Ukraine. The networking event was attended by 22 experts and practitioners in the field of drones from the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, the Institute for National Defense and Security Research, and Taiwanese colleges and institutions. The initiative was a concrete example of Taiwan-Czech international cooperation in the sphere of drone applications. Through experience sharing and technical discussions, the workshop prepared the expertise needed for MOFA to promote the upcoming drone diplomacy program under the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project.
On the afternoon of August 9, Chiang took part in the opening of the Asia UAV Innovation and Application Expo 2026 organized by Space Chiayi. During the event, he signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on drone cooperation with Adamová. The two sides pledged to strengthen cooperation on talent development, supply chain cooperation, and joint international events.
In his remarks, Chiang said that drone diplomacy was inspired by chip diplomacy in that it used Taiwan’s industrial strengths to promote foreign policy. He added that Taiwan’s advantages in unmanned vehicle manufacturing and semiconductor component supply as well as its position in non-red supply chains highlighted the country’s importance and would help deepen international drone cooperation between Taiwan and like-minded countries.
Speaking at the opening, Adamova said she had discussed potential areas of cooperation with Chiang on previous visits to Space Chiayi and was pleased to see the Czech Farpoint Academy finalize substantive cooperation with Taiwan. Building on the MOU, she said she expected to see deeper international cooperation on drones.
